Advanced urine ± plasma metabolomics to map energy, nutrition, detox, stress & microbiome signatures
What it is
OMX® is an advanced metabolomics panel that analyzes organic acids, amino acids, and other small molecules to reveal your unique Metabolic Signature—how you make energy, process nutrients, detoxify, respond to stress, and interact with your gut microbiome. Available as Urine-only or Urine + Plasma.
What it measures (key domains)
- Metabolic Processing: glycolysis, Krebs cycle, fatty-acid oxidation, ketones
- Amino Acid & Protein Metabolism
- Nutrition: B-complex, biotin, folate-related markers, diet patterns
- Stress & Mood: neurotransmitter pathway intermediates (incl. Kynurenine/Tryptophan ratio)
- Toxic Impacts: solvent/toxin exposure markers, kidney impacts
-
Microbial Metabolites: yeast/bacterial byproducts (e.g., arabinitol, equol)
Urine results are reported with method LC-MS/MS.
Why it matters
OMX brings organic acid testing + amino acids together in a systems-biology view so clinicians can connect pathway “traffic jams” to targeted nutrition and lifestyle plans—often beyond what standard OATs report.
Great for
- Low energy, brain fog, stubborn recovery or fitness plateaus
- Suspected nutrient insufficiency (B-vitamins, amino acids)
- Detox/chemical exposure concerns and mitochondrial support planning
- Gut-related symptoms where microbial metabolites may contribute
- Baseline mapping before/after a protocol to personalize care

Suggested Use
Follow detailed instructions supplied with the test.
Order kit (Urine-only or Urine + Plasma). Turnaround ~7–10 business days after the lab receives samples.
Prepare. For Urine-only: avoid certain foods 48 hrs pre-collection; collect first-morning urine, then freeze before shipping Mon-Thu. For Urine + Plasma: fast 8 hrs before your blood draw; keep the urine frozen until you ship with the blood.
Collect & ship using the prepaid materials (follow kit insert). If blood is not drawn same day, keep plasma/urine frozen per instructions and ship on allowed days.
Results & plan. Your report visualizes pathway status and includes actionable nutrient/lifestyle insights for your practitioner to personalize next steps.
Sample options
- Urine-only (first-morning urine)
- Urine + Plasma (first-morning urine + fasting blood draw)

FAQ
1) Urine-only vs. Urine + Plasma - what’s the difference?
Urine-only evaluates a comprehensive set of organic/microbial/nutrition markers from urine. Adding plasma provides amino-acid context from blood plus overlapping metabolites for a broader metabolic view. Both options use the same pathway-based reporting.
2) Do I need to fast?
Urine-only: no fasting, but avoid certain foods 48 hrs pre-collection (see kit).
Urine + Plasma: fast 8 hrs before the blood draw.
3) When and how do I ship?
Freeze the urine (and plasma if applicable) and ship Mon–Thu using the provided materials; follow the kit’s timing rules.
4) How long is the turnaround?
Typical lab time is ~7–10 business days once the lab receives your samples.
5) How is OMX different from a traditional OAT?
OMX integrates organic acids + amino acids + additional small molecules (e.g., cortisol, glucose, microalbumin, collagen catabolism) and presents results in six functional domains for systems-level interpretation.
6) Can I pair OMX with other tests?
Yes - many clinicians pair OMX + GI-MAP to connect stool organisms with metabolomic fingerprints for more precise interventions.
7) Who shouldn’t test right now?
If you’re acutely ill, recently completed antibiotics or a cleanse, or are menstruating (for urine collection), ask your clinician about optimal timing per the kit guidance.
