Advanced at-home Genova stool testing with NuGeneLabs interpretation and a personalized gut roadmap included.

Dealing with bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, abdominal discomfort, or food-triggered digestive symptoms? Guessing can get expensive and frustrating.

The Genova GI Effects Comprehensive Stool Profile is an advanced stool test that helps evaluate digestion, absorption, gut inflammation, immune activity, microbiome balance, yeast, bacteria, and parasites.

Your NuGeneLabs order includes the test kit, lab processing, provider-reviewed interpretation, and a personalized gut roadmap, so you understand what your results may mean and what steps may make sense next.

Genova test kits are not available for purchase or shipping in New York State.

Why Order Through NuGeneLabs?

A GI Effects report contains a lot of data. The value is knowing how to use it.

NuGeneLabs reviews your results in context with your symptoms, stool patterns, diet, supplement use, medications, and health goals. Your interpretation summary helps explain the main findings and turns the report into a practical gut-health roadmap.

The goal is not to randomly add probiotics, digestive enzymes, antimicrobials, binders, or restrictive diets. The goal is to match the next step to your actual gut pattern.

Why GI-Effects Stool Testing Can Help With Gut Symptoms

Digestive symptoms can come from different patterns. One person may have poor fat digestion, another may have low pancreatic enzyme markers. Another pattern maybe associated with gut inflammation, immune activation, bacterial imbalance, low beneficial bacteria, yeast findings, or parasite findings.

Without testing, it is easy to guess wrong. Some people keep taking probiotics when the bigger issue may be digestion, inflammation, motility, or microbial imbalance. Others restrict more and more foods without knowing what is actually happening in the gut.

GI Effects helps organize the picture by looking at multiple areas at once: how well you digest and absorb food, whether inflammatory or immune markers are elevated, and what the microbiome pattern looks like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose the 1-day or 3-day GI Effects test?

Both options evaluate the GI Effects Comprehensive Stool Profile, but the collection format is different.

The 1-day collection is simpler and may be preferred for general gut-health review. The 3-day collection may be preferred when parasite concern is higher or when broader stool sampling is desired. Genova notes that the choice between 1-day and 3-day collection is based on the clinician’s suspicion for parasitic infection.

Both options are the same price.

Is GI Effects the same as a SIBO test?

No. GI Effects is a stool test. It evaluates digestion, inflammation, immune activity, microbiome balance, yeast, bacteria, and parasite-related findings in stool.

A SIBO breath test evaluates breath gas patterns after a lactulose challenge drink. The two tests answer different gut-health questions.

Is GI Effects the same as GI-MAP?

No. GI Effects and GI-MAP are both advanced stool tests, but they use different lab methods, report formats, and marker groupings.

GI Effects by Genova is organized around three major areas: digestion and absorption, inflammation and immune activity, and the gut microbiome. It is especially useful when you want a broad view of how well you digest food, whether gut inflammation or immune markers are elevated, and how the microbiome pattern looks.

GI-MAP by Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory uses quantitative PCR, also called qPCR, to detect and measure DNA from specific bacteria, parasites, viruses, fungi, H. pylori, and other gut organisms. Its report is more organism-focused, with sections for pathogens, H. pylori and virulence factors, normal bacteria, opportunistic bacteria, fungi/yeast, parasites, and intestinal health markers such as pancreatic elastase, secretory IgA, calprotectin, and others.

Both tests can be useful. The best choice depends on whether the priority is broader digestive function and microbiome ecology, or a more DNA-based organism-focused stool analysis.

Can this test show if I need digestive enzymes?

It may help guide that conversation. Markers such as pancreatic elastase-1, fecal fat, and products of protein breakdown can provide insight into digestive function and absorption patterns.

Can this test show gut inflammation?

It includes markers that may help review gut inflammation and immune activity, including calprotectin, eosinophil protein X, secretory IgA, and fecal occult blood.

Does this test check for H. pylori?

H. pylori may be available as an add-on or separate marker through Genova. It should not be assumed included unless it is listed in the order details.

Does this test include Microbiomix?

Microbiomix may be available as an add-on through Genova. It is not included unless it is specifically listed in your order.

Can I take probiotics before testing?

Follow the kit instructions. Probiotics and antimicrobial products may affect stool test results. Do not stop medically necessary medications unless your healthcare provider tells you to.

Will this test tell me exactly what supplements to take?

The test does not automatically prescribe supplements. NuGeneLabs reviews your result pattern and provides a practical roadmap. Supplement guidance may be included when appropriate.

Can this test diagnose a digestive disease?

This test provides functional lab insight and should be interpreted with symptoms and health history. It is not a replacement for medical diagnosis or care.
